Empowering Growth Through Community and Connection
At Sequoia Springs Trauma Healing Center, we believe that true healing goes beyond individual transformation—it extends into building connections within the community. We are dedicated to helping our clients engage meaningfully with those around them, fostering a sense of belonging and shared growth. Through a variety of community workshops, we offer opportunities for clients to connect, learn, and develop skills that support healing, resilience, and community engagement. Whether it’s through skill-building, peer support, or trauma education, our workshops are designed to empower individuals and families to thrive together.
Yoga
Yoga can help individuals reconnect with their bodies, regulate emotions and manage trauma symptoms. Our classes are designed to meet individuals where they are by providing a safe, supportive and non-judgmental environment.
Mindfulness
Mindfulness aids trauma recovery by fostering nonjudgmental awareness of thoughts, emotions, and sensations. It disrupts reactivity, hyper-vigilance, and numbness, helping individuals reconnect with the present and support healing.
Breath Work
Deep breathing can be an essential coping tool for trauma survivors that can help calm the nervous system. Our classes help to teach different breathing techniques to help individuals restore a sense of relaxation, safety, and balance.
Creative Art
Creative art classes can be a helpful tool for healing from trauma by providing another way for self-expression. Our classes offer individuals a self-paced and creative way to connect with themselves, express emotions, and connect with others.
Sound Healing
Our sound healing services offer a unique path to physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Benefits include calming the nervous system, reducing stress, and fostering relaxation. Our classes welcome anyone seeking tools for lasting balance and stability.
Meditation
Meditation is a powerful tool for mental health. It offers a simple way to nurture emotional well-being and resilience. Our meditation classes allow clients to learn skills and practice calming the mind, reducing stress, and enhancing resilience and balance.

Community Outreach

Our community-based events with local Tucson businesses and other non-profit organizations offer trauma survivors a meaningful opportunity to heal by fostering a sense of social connection and community. Our events offer individuals, couples and families an outlet to feel less isolated, feel supported and increase their sense of belonging.

Lucy

Lucy is a young adult rescue from Pima Animal Care Center who comes to the therapy room with a story of her own. She carries a few visible scars from her life before being adopted and approaches new people and situations carefully. Lucy is curious and cautious rather than fearful. She watches, takes her time, and prefers to decide for herself when she is ready to connect. Once she trusts you, though, you’re in.
Building a relationship with Lucy cannot be rushed. Connecting with her often requires slowing down, being calm and centered, having patience, and allowing trust to develop at its own pace. Saul may incorporate that process into therapy when exploring regulation, trust, patience, boundaries, and connection. Lucy is not there to perform. Much like the people in the room, she gets to have a say in the relationship. Her participation is always based on client comfort and preference.

Lucy has earned the American Kennel Club (AKC) Canine Good Citizen (CGC) credential, completed multiple levels of specialized therapy dog training, and is part of a registered Pet Partners therapy animal team with Saul. Saul is a Certified Animal-Assisted Intervention Specialist (C-AAIS) through the Association of Animal-Assisted Intervention Professionals (AAAIP). Their training together is ongoing as they continue to build skills, pursue additional credentials and specializations, and train simply because they enjoy it.

People frequently try to guess Lucy’s breed, and the answer is not simple. DNA testing shows that she is primarily Great Pyrenees and Chow Chow, with American Pit Bull Terrier, Rottweiler, Belgian Malinois, German Shepherd Dog, and a little “Supermutt” rounding out the mix. When her vest comes off, Lucy is very much an off-duty dog. She gets the zoomies and loves playing with her canine friends.
